Autumn series Wrap up

Autumn serié is a wrap. Nine weeks are over and we are done for this year. International results are published on zwiftpower with best 8 out of 9 weeks of racing and Slovenian only results are published here on Results page as well. Congrats to every single one, from winners to finishers, from one day racers to full league racers, some even double day fighters. The more of us are present, the better, more motivating our common time spent on the bike is.

What’s next?

We are taking 3 weeks of a break, and then we will be hopefully back with another 9 weeks long serié spanning from 17th of January till the 14th of March with new courses and hopefully some new challenges. Please, note the word “hopefully”, because it does not depend entirely on us. It is on Zwift as well to support us with event creation. Even on that field, fierce competition is present and it’s not easy these days to get a free slot within a central European prime time hour.

But, before we enter into the mid-winter vacuum time, we have one more challenge to do. Best Slovenian riders from groups A, B and C will have a chance to do one more race on Live Finals in Ljubljana, 4th of January 2020 and everybody else is warmly invited to come and cheer! Stay tuned for more details coming out tomorrow.

Just to refresh basic rules about eligibility for our weekly prize draw:

1.) every Slovenian rider with a valid stage result on Zwiftpower.com from the current week is eligible. Riders with SLO flag but without real name and surname (for example: some dude, .Iron Doga, Ave Cezar, Miha 5886, etc..) are excluded. Names like Miha Železnik (Steel Bike lover), Tine Pšeničnik [Vegan Zwift Team] are OK.

2.) Organizers and past lucky winners are excluded from the weekly prize draw. There is no point in getting two bike fittings in a row, but they all remain eligible for the main prize (Wahoo Tickr Heart rate monitor) after 9 weeks of league.

Stage 9 Preview

reposted from thecolcollective.com

Final and last stage of the autumn series. Alpe d’Huez showdown! Wait, Alp d’Huez? Ve, ve,.. Zwift has done perfect GPS based replica of famous and often deciding Tour de France climb, making it that much more interesting since many won’t have a chance in their life to travel to France and try the real climb.

The stage many have been waiting for. Above all, the pure climbers. It is their moment coming. Their element, their game. 12km of steep mountain top climbing with no parasite on their wheel. This is what they love, this what they crave for.

In terms of tactics, there is not much to say about the stage. After a short warm-up approach through the jungle towards the climb, where the majority will try to hide and save energy, the monstrous slope of Alpe d’Zwift begins. Same as with stage 8 it is almost everyone for himself right from the bottom of the climb. Even the duration of the climb is similar to the duration of the TT last week. Climbers would call it the Zen, others consider it more of a punishment, endless torture. Due to the massive popularity of Alpe d’Zwift climb, this stage might attract many one day racers, usually pure climbers.

And just a fun fact for Slovenian riders. Alpe d’Zwift climb is very similar to popular Krvavec climb. These two correlate perfectly well. If one is using reliable and accurate PM and his weight is set correctly, and he will manage a similar power output indoor as outdoor, his Alpe climbing time will be within one minute of his Krvavec real-life climb.

Categories will all do the same distance and climbing, up the long hill to the finish banner, that’s it! 19.5 km and 1.045 meters of climbing.

There are two slots available and remember; you can do either one or both, your best result will count towards general points classification.
